I always think as I write too. LOL However, other teachers have got involved now too. So, we look for something that is simple and will not take too much time. Some of Jen's projects only use up a couple of hours or days. I think there is a pumpkin one at the minute which we might do.
Balancing time commitments is the key to productivity and sanity. However, now that I have started I also look for some ongoing projects with my older students especially connected to blogging. I fear some will become a little bored with straight text posts, so working with other schools across the globe will keep them excited and motivated. The blogging across the cultures is a great one, as students only write one post each fortnight, on simple but effective global topics. As they are just so keen to have an audience, dots on their maps and comments, they just are off reading the other student;s in their groups blogs even though they have been asked to only comment on two other students.
Parents get involved too as students go home and discuss the students who have visited them.
Oooh... that is long winded but yes to sum up "keep it simple" is the best approach.

Hello Grace, I am so lucky in that I teach information technology. Therefore I have so much more scope for collaboration as it fits in so well with the communication aspect. So, as we are still really experimenting, I am happy to work with whomever and whatever and feel it is reasonably simple to fit the pedagogy most of the time with what I am doing.
Global collaboration brings up so much geography and history, naturally as students really want to know what cities, countries those comments, flags, dots on the clustrmaps, online students etc come from.
In time pedagogy will change to heutagogy, where teachers will help students become self directed learners.
However, there are teachers out ther that do just want to work with people who teach certain subjects, topics and outcomes but I have not restricted my classes at all as the learning is naturally powerful.
