Hi Helen,
I love the relaxed approach of the presenter.
Creativity v Literacy are not mutually exclusive. What about a creative literacy?
How true..if you can't make a mistake you will never learn.
Maths and Languages are not at the top in Australia. Maths and English is. LOTE is relegated to the bottom.
I thought he was very funny with some good general ideas. Academic ability notion is spot on re Uni entrance. "Academic inflation" is a great term.
Now I know why women are better at multitasking...I still have probs frying an egg.
ADHD..could be the scourge of the late 20 th/21st century! Are we over diagnosing kids with an alphabet soup of conditions?
cheers

I love Ken Robinson's presentations. This one is particularly good. I have been sharing it with schools for a year now and I am yet to find an audience who didn't enjoy it! It's a great discussion starter. He knows how to provide 'food for thought' in the most palatable way! If you have access to YouTube it's worth watching some of his other presentations.
Helen,
this is such a thought provoking and dare I say provocative topic that it should prove to be popular in the conference. I've had a google at what some people say on the topic and I particularly like the forthrightness of the following observer: http://www.goshen.edu/art/ed/creativitykillers.html
Great video Helen! Very entertaining. Because of the focus on academic performance – “educating from the neck up” as Sir Ken calls it people with a learning difficulty or a disability can feel ‘stupid’ despite being skilled dancers, artists or athletes. Here is an interesting clip from YouTube called "I am angry at my reading and writing disability”
